Farmers Bank & Trust is a one hundred year old, family owned bank headquartered in Great Bend, Kansas. When the owners decided to open their first branch in the Kansas City area, they teamed up with A. L. Huber and Kaster Architects. Built as the feature corner building at the Lionsgate Office Centre, this two-story building integrates with the architecture of the surroundings and acts as the marquee of the development. The use of a stone base, stucco wall and low-pitched roof with larger overhang, gives the bank a Prairie-Style feel. The interior is accented with the stone used on the exterior and is designed with a blend of shapes and curves and earthtone colors to give the bank a warm, inviting ambience. The millwork and trim are knotty alder, a very unique wood, which provides a striking counterpoint to the colors and textures used in the interior finish.
