The J. Rieger & Co. distillery project renovated the historic Heim Brewery Building in the East Bottoms of Kansas City. This project includes modernizing a nearly 120-year-old building by updating every system, including power, fire sprinkler, plumbing, heating/cooling, fire alarm, access controls, and A/V. This is a two-in-one, world-class hospitality project with several entertainment areas within the building and a state-of-the-art manufacturing project requiring careful coordination of process lines and whiskey-distilling equipment.
A large section of the 2nd floor was removed and will give visitors an overhead view of the production floor. 58 exterior windows have been replaced with matching, historically accurate replicas. J. Rieger has continued their production operations for most of the project. The shutdown of their production has only been related to the installation of new equipment and relocation of existing equipment. The facility includes a distillery, tasting room, kitchen, entertainment areas, event space, speakeasy, and offices.
