The previous Halls Department store was transformed into Sealife Kansas City. We led the intensive interior renovations, including new shared entries, coordinating with hundreds of theming artisans and laborers from all over the world, and installing massive aquarium tanks home to over 5,000 sea creatures. This major undertaking took an extremely detailed and experienced general contractor, which is exactly why Merlin selected A.L. Huber to lead this exciting project. Originally scheduled to open in June 2012, A.L. Huber worked closely with the owner and architects (from the United Kingdom and locally selected 360 Architecture) during preconstruction to provide innovative solutions that saved close to three months in the construction schedule. The project repurposed an existing building that was not previously an aquarium or attraction, making this a unique construction project. Each design and construction issue had to be resolved in an innovative way of thinking.
Project Features:
- Extensive preconstruction services
- Specialty vendor coordination
- Condensed schedule by three months
