On December 29, 2011, a catastrophic fire destroyed the beautiful Westport Presbyterian Church. Only some of the wood structure, stone walls, and stained glass remained. These items sustained damage as well and would require extensive restoration. This stone church was originally constructed in 1835 and has been an integral neighbor in the historic Westport community. The scope of work included deconstruction, restoration, and new construction for a sanctuary and fellowship wing. Classrooms, meeting spaces, kitchens, and activity areas were incorporated into the project. A state-of-the-art audio-visual system was incorporated into the sanctuary with meticulous attention to detail to fulfill the sound experience for the visitor. A.L. Huber also coordinated specialty contractors from the new organ delivery and installation to restoring the original stained glass. Talented stone masons were brought in to restore the stone and install salvaged stone as part of the new construction. In addition to weekly services, the church holds many outreach activities and Westport area meetings; it serves an important function in the community.
